MEXICO CITY (Reuters) – Germany confirmed its first case of swine flu on Wednesday, the eighth country where the virus has been found, but reported deaths remained confined to Mexico nearly a week after the threat of a pandemic emerged.

TROMSOE, Norway (Reuters) – An area of an Antarctic ice shelf almost the size of New York City has broken into icebergs this month after the collapse of an ice bridge widely blamed on global warming, a scientist said Tuesday.

Lebanese told not to kiss in anti-swine flu drive

BEIRUT (Reuters) – Swine flu has not yet hit Lebanon but is threatening a national custom. Lebanese should stop greeting each other with kisses to the cheek, Health Minister Mohammad Khalifeh told a news conference on Tuesday called to explain measures to tackle the potential spread of the deadly strain.
